Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques
About the programme:
The Level 3 City and Guilds Business Improvement Techniques programme and qualification is designed for the more experienced supervisor and first line manager and is particularly effective at producing immediate improvements in your organisation. It is project based and can address current and locally identified issues that will bring an immediate benefit. It is quite usual for supervisors and managers to complete a Level 3 whilst their team members complete a Level 2.
The programme consists of a combination of classroom teaching and work-place project days over a three to six-month period to suit the client. The tutor will hold an introductory day on site to brief the learners, form project groups and agree targets and the work processes that will be looked at. There will then be an of average six visits to the site, during which the tutor will hold both classroom and work-place sessions, supporting the participants in the completion of their qualification projects and Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business Improvement Techniques. There will then be a final wrap-up day where the tutor will review and ensure that all work and projects are completed and acceptable for submission to the City and Guilds.
The participants will complete 5 core and two optional units during the programme. The core units are shown in the course content section of the brochure later along with two examples of optional units. The programme is designed for more experienced people who may be in a supervisory or first line management role and who already have a degree of knowledge about their organisation and its working practices. Level 3 will be suitable if participants have worked in a business improvement environment for some time and are keen to increase their skills and knowledge in order to take on a more responsible role.
As with the level 2 programme, this qualification is suitable for a wide variety of roles and sectors, including sales, administration, service and manufacturing.
The Programme content:
The programme is operationally based and requires the participants to be able to apply improvements in their work place whilst working with a team. The length of the programme is flexible but would normally be completed within 3 to 6 months.
The programme will cover five mandatory topics in the form of NVQ units and a further two units from the prescribed lists (common options are unit 307 covering problem solving techniques and unit 313 which looks at process identification and flow). Training is provided where required by the tutor, each participant being individually assessed. Training is provided to the group as well as on an individual coaching basis.
