Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT – 2016 edition) Workshops

This training will support business growth ambitions by upskilling and familiarising employers that hold or plan to hold critical procurement/tendering/contractual appointments in all aspects of JCT 2016.

Workshops will enable participants to:

1) Appreciate the structure and use of the JCT 2016 family of documents and how they can support all parties involved.
2) Understand the more important clauses of the new contracts.
3) Appreciate the roles and responsibilities of the key parties.
4) Understand a JCT 2016 contract and how to converse, scrutinise and approve.
5) Confidently deal with procurement and tender issues.
6) Give greater confidence to organisations and ensure those who manage in such areas have the required knowledge, skills and ability.
7) Underpin best practices when dealing with tender opportunities/problems and supply chain networks whilst improving legal standing and minimising unwanted delay and costs.
8) Improve productivity for those previously trained by improving how-how and efficiency, skills and planning considerations.
9) Raise ambition and confidence in training through employers and build conversant, relevant portfolio of Continued Professional Development through the workforce

Understanding contractual provisions can be complicated; JCT 2016 was introduced to develop, publish and procure and revise a suite of standard forms of contract and tender documentation for construction. It is the current edition of JCT standard forms of contract and ranges in publications from standard contracts to major construction projects or a Design and Build Contract which is designed for projects where contractors undertake both the design and construction work.

Introduction (Level 1)

Who should attend: Those who require an initial understanding and overview of the JCT 2016 family of contracts, specifically focusing on the Standard Building Contract with Quantities (SBC/Q).

Intermediate (Level 2)

Who should attend: All those involved in the tendering, procurement or contract negotiations and legal frameworks required by any organisation. This course is for learners who have knowledge of the JCT 2016 contracts but need some guidance on the practical aspects of using the contracts.

Advanced (Level 3)

Who should attend: All those involved in and managing tendering, procurement or contract negotiations and legal frameworks required within any organisation. This course is for experienced JCT 2016 contract practitioners.

Masterclass (Level 4)

Who should attend: All those involved in and managing tendering, procurement or contract negotiations and legal frameworks required by any organisation. This course is for very experienced JCT 2016 contract practitioners and is ideal for scenario based problem solving.
