SME Leadership Development Programme

The programme is designed for new or experienced managers and leaders who have the responsibility for leading a team. The programme can support cross-functional teams working to implement change whilst developing organisational learning. Participants can include people from all business functions; Operations, Logistics, Purchasing, Sales, Technical, Customer Service, Finance and Human Resources.

The programme consists of seven one day modules delivered over a fourteen-week period. The first module is held at a convenient location, with the remaining modules being held at learners businesses (subject to room size and availability). The outline content for each of the modules is shown below –

Module 1 Launch – Programme launch, organisational health & safety requirements, MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)

Module 2 Leadership – Mission, vision & policy deployment, leadership styles, learning styles, team readiness and team working

Module 3 Human Resources – Performance management, people development, discipline and grievance

Module 4 Change Management – Change curve, managing conflict, motivation, delegation and effective communication

Module 5 Performance Management – Establishing key measures, data collection and analysis, visual management and skills matrix

Module 6 Quality Assurance – Quality management principles, risk-based thinking, process risk management, planning of change, operational planning and control.

Module 7 Lean – PDCA, 5S, 7 waste, standard work and activity planning

Learners would then have 0.5 days support in their own business on a 1:1 basis to identify and scope a suitable improvement project. This project would be completed over a six week period and the results and learning points presented back to the group at a certification day.

You will be asked to complete a pre-course questionnaire that will enable us to review your current role and previous experience together with your expectations from the programme.
